My peace came from within, knowing it was time to treat myself to a much needed facial. Recent events in the news, family, and day to day life really takes it toll on a gal so imagine my excitement when I left my home and headed towards my friends' house so they could watch my kids while I indulged at Qui Elements Spa by Anja. The universe had other plans that consisted of me waiting in traffic for what felt like an extra hour added to my otherwise 30min trip. Little did I know the traffic was a result of the "peaceful" protest happening throughout downtown Dallas in light of the Ferguson court decision to not prosecute a white officer who shot and killed an unarmed black teen- unbelievable stuff yet it happens quite often sadly. As time ticked I inched my way down Hwy 75 South onto I 30W.
I knew there was no way I would have time to drop the girls off in Oak Cliff with stand still traffic on I35 East Stemmons Freeway and make it in time for my appt near Fair Park. I was already 30 minutes late! So a split decision was made and I did something I haven't done since my breastfeeding days when we were literally "inseparable"- I took them with me to get a facial. I was desperate then and much hasn't changed since so there they were with their jerk veggie patties from Elaine's Kitchen sharing a seat in Anja's sacred space surrounded by soft lighting, the vanilla aroma candles and an Enya-esque Pandora station. Check out the video to see what happens when you mix kids and mommy spa facial time. Then comment below if the spirit moves you. Was there ever a time when you had to take the kids somewhere where under normal circumstances you probably wouldn't. But they are our kids and where I go, they go...
